I discovered trays as home decor a couple years ago, and there was no turning back! I was buying trays left and right, putting them in every room I could! They may very well be one of my favorite home decor pieces. They’re versatile, functional, and oh-so-pretty! The materials trays come in are endless—wood, metal, plastic, basket material, glass, ceramic, marble, and more. And the uses are practically as endless. Here are 5 places I love to use trays in my home, along with how to use them. And don’t forget to check out some of my favorite trays at the end of the post!
Trays are the perfect way to corral cooking essentials like oils and spices. By using a tray on your counter, you can still have those essentials within reach, without having too much visual clutter since trays make lots of little things look like one larger object.
Bathrooms are an obvious place to use trays as there are so many small items that are used in bathrooms, from soaps and lotions to makeup and other toiletries. Similar to the kitchen, trays can be used in the bathroom to keep all your frequently used things that you need easily accessible, while still containing what could otherwise look like quite the mess all over your counter.
While the bathroom was an obvious place to utilize trays, the mudroom is one spot where you might not think a tray would be useful. But take an oversized old wooden tray, throw some wheels and hardware on it, and you’ve got yourself a cute and functional boot tray! This is perfect next to the door as it provides storage for shoes, umbrellas, and the like.
I love a good tray on a dresser situation! Trays are perfect for keeping your jewelry and makeup together, as well as any little odds and ends that may accumulate. They make the top of a dresser or nightstand more functional and organized. Win-win!
Lastly, the guest room is a super fun place to use trays! Create a tray filled with all kinds of goodies for your guests—fresh linens, extra toiletries, drinks, snacks, flowers, etc. The options are endless as you think of ways to welcome and bless your guests.
