If you’re a follower of Jesus, then you may wonder what decorating and a faith-filled life have to do with each other. Well, I’m here to tell you, A LOT!
There’s a way you can create your home to be Christ-centered, and there’s a way you can create it to be you-centered. There’s a way you can design it to cultivate contentment, joy, and life, and there’s a way that you can design it to cultivate exactly the opposite.
So if you desire for your home to be Christ-centered, here are three ideas to consider as you’re creating your home.

Whether it’s scripture, lines from a favorite hymn, or bits of truth that you want to remember about who God is or who He has created you to be, displaying truth throughout your home is a powerful way to keep things centered on Christ.
There are tons of beautiful pieces that you can buy to display in your home. I especially love Lindsay Letters’ stuff (pictured above) and French Press Mornings has some lovely art as well. You can also create art to display around your home, or find free downloads online to print, frame, and hang.
When creating your home, keep in mind the kinds of ministry that you want to take place there, and design accordingly.
Both our living and dining rooms are specifically designed for ministry—we have a table that seats 8 for large meals and enough seats in our living room to comfortably hold our small group. Keeping ministry in mind when designing our home has helped me be more intentional, as I am constantly reminded that our spaces aren’t just made for my husband and me.
Creating a beautiful home is a good and wonderful endeavor to undertake, but we must remember to check our motives and steward what God has given us well.
This means not spending outside our means on things for our homes, not dwelling in envy and comparison, and not being prideful about our homes. Asking the Spirit to keep our motives in check as we design will ensure that we aren’t making an idol out of our homes.
We steward God’s gifts well when we make use of the home He has given us, with the budget He has given us. When we use our God-given creativity to create a beautiful space within the limits we have, we bring glory to Him!
Why not choose one of these ideas to work on implementing into your home today?
