Summer is right around the corner, and with it will come weekend BBQs, evening bonfires, and afternoons at the pool. But just because you’ll be spending less time in your home doesn’t mean you have to completely forgo sprucing it up for the season! I love adding a little touch of whatever season it happens to be to my home (and maybe a big touch when it comes to Christmas!), and summer is no exception.
There are many things you can do to summer-ize your home decor, and you don’t have to go out and spend a bunch of money on new decor to do so! I’ve included ideas for how you can incorporate these summer touches affordably (or for free!), as well as some affiliate links for products that will help you do so.

Floral prints are a great way to bring that summery vibe to your space! Bringing in florals and greenery through patterns can be as easy as swapping out a pillow or two, or printing off some floral artwork.
Summer is a great time to incorporate more greenery, as you can do it for free! If you have flowering bushes or trees in your yard, trim off some of the branches to fill a large vase. Or trim some flowers from your garden for a tabletop arrangement. You can also find inexpensive artificial plants at stores like Home Goods, Ikea, and Target.

I don’t know about you, but when I think of summer, I think of keeping things airy and cool. So that means swapping out some of my more moodier, darker, cozier colors and textures for ones that are lighter and brighter.
Bringing in brighter pops of color through artwork, textiles, and accessories is a great way to brighten things up. Also, if you swap out any bedding for the summer months you can go lighter. Simply removing some darker decor pieces may be all you need to brighten things up for summer!

Summer is a time for simplicity. If you’re like me, the last thing you want to be doing is organizing stuff indoors, so a little bit of prep during the spring/beginning of summer will go a long way! Baskets, trays, boxes, and the like are great ways to corral your stuff, but you can also purge different areas of your home to be more simplified.
If you need help with this step, I have a FREE five day email course to creating an organized home. Each day you’ll receive an email that focuses on a specific area of your home and gives you tips and tricks to purging and organizing.
I hope you enjoy adding little touches of summer decor to your home! Please share any further ideas you have in the comments!
