The Easiest Summer Hospitality Idea

I wanted to pop onto the blog today to share a simple, affordable, and totally do-able summer hospitality idea! If you love the thought of opening your home, but the idea of cooking an entire meal, cleaning the whole house, and planning everything out seems daunting, then this idea is for you!

It’s so simple that you’ve probably done it without even realizing it, but I also what to share a few different variations. Are you ready?? BYO BBQ.

Yep. It’s that simple. I’m suggesting that you host a BBQ and have people bring their own food! No cleaning of the whole house (maybe just the bathroom!), no cooking of elaborate meals. It’s the perfect summer hospitality trick.

So, here are a couple ideas for pulling this off:

• Have guests bring their own meat to grill and provide drinks, sides, and ice cream treats.
• Invite guests bring a side to share and provide the grilled meat.
• Have guests bring their own drinks and assigned s’mores ingredient. Provide the rest of the meal.
• Ask guests bring a favorite ice cream topping and condiment. Provide the ice cream and meat.
• Have guests bring a salad (and tell them to get creative—pasta salad, lettuce salad, fruit salad, etc!) and provide the meat and drinks.
• Etc! Have fun with the combinations of what guests bring vs. what you provide. The possibilities are endless!

This is a great solution for when you want to practice hospitality but summer feels to buys. Everyone needs to eat! And grilling out is such an easy solution to dinner. Plus, I can guarantee that your guests will love adding their own twists to the BBQ!

To simplify even more, pick up disposable dishes, or invest in some melamine dishes for outdoor use. You can even create a basket or cabinet that’s just for all your BBQ accessories (dishes, grilling tools, pitchers, etc), so you’re ready for a BBQ whenever the mood strikes! Happy BYO BBQ’ing! 🙂
