If there’s one thing that’s almost certain to be in every home, that’s a television. And often there are more than one. Since decorating around the TV is actually a pretty common (and important!) design dilemma that homeowners face, today I wanted to share a few ideas for decorating around your TV!

The first idea is to create a gallery wall around your TV. Whether you use photographs or art, all the same frames or all different, symmetrical or asymmetrical… that’s up to you! But one thing that’s sure to help your TV blend in more is to surround it with a gallery wall. If you need help creating a gallery wall, this post is filled with lots of great tips (and some free printables to get started!).

Rather than surrounding your TV with framed photos or art, you could instead choose to surround it with shelves. There are many options with shelving—built-in shelves, shelves on either side of the TV, shelves above or below the TV, one simple shelf, a whole wall of shelves—the possibilities are really endless! You can then style out your shelves with books, baskets, and decor. This is a great way to help your TV feel more a part of your wall and room, and to integrate it seamlessly into your space.

The last idea for decorating around your TV is to create an accent wall behind it. You could add shiplap, reclaimed wood, or brick to the wall behind your TV, or try removable wallpaper or stenciling a pattern. Another great way to disguise your TV is to paint the wall behind it black or a dark color as an accent wall in the room. This will take the attention away from the TV and instead put it on the accent wall, looking purposeful and stylish.

So if you feel like your TV sticks out like a sore thumb, give one of these ideas a try! Whether you create a gallery wall, utilize some shelves, or try out an accent wall, being intentional with what’s around your TV will definitely help it blend in and become part of your home decor.
